Incode, an international and award-winning identity verification technology company, asked us to make some minor modifications to their small office space in downtown San Francisco. Our first task was to warm the space up since it felt cold and bland. In our solution, we added wood paneling under the windows throughout the office space and added a wood clad half wall in order to define and separate the entry from the kitchen/break area. We designed a backlit sign out of steel and extended the existing wood slat ceiling element at the entry by continuing it down from the ceiling. We also added durable and hearty plants throughout the space and visually improved the utilitarian entry to make it more inviting.
The entry area itself had doors with different heights, different trim thicknesses and different door materials as well as a vent. We added wood slats of varying thicknesses and widths to disguise the variations and create a uniform textured wall that was more pleasing to the eye and highlighted the entry door.
